How does the NFC tag actually work?
Every LifeTap tag has a tiny NFC chip built in. Tap it with the back of any modern smartphone (iPhone or Android, no app needed) and it opens a secure webpage in the browser showing your medical profile — name, photo, allergies, conditions, medications, blood type, and emergency contacts.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Scanning a tag just opens a normal web page. You only create an account if you're the one setting up or editing a profile.
Is my information private?
Yes. Public profiles are read-only, use a random non-guessable link, and are excluded from search engines. Only someone who physically taps your tag can view it.
Can I update my information after I buy?
Yes, anytime. Log into your private dashboard to update your medical details or emergency contacts, and the change appears instantly — you never need to reorder a new tag.
Are LifeTap products waterproof and durable?
Our wristbands use an adjustable, water-resistant nylon band built for all-day wear, including workouts and showers.
Will the NFC tag work through a phone case?
In almost all cases, yes. NFC signals pass through most phone cases. Very thick or metal cases can occasionally interfere — removing the case solves this.
What if someone doesn't have a smartphone?
Every tag also has the universal medical symbol printed on it, so first responders recognize it immediately even without scanning.
How do first responders know to check for the tag?
First responders and emergency medical personnel are trained to look for medical alert symbols like the one on your LifeTap tag. Once they spot it, tapping a phone against the chip brings up your emergency profile immediately.
